Doctorate of Business Administration in Sports Management

Alfred Nobel Open Business School offers DBA programs taught entirely in English. We seek motivated students from all over the world, who are eager to work as academic researchers, specialists or professionals in the international arena. A DBA doctorate in sports management is a research-based degree, requiring candidates to undertake a specific research throughout the course of their studies. Those with a degree from an accredited college or university may be able to complete the program in six months.

The program is designed to prepare individuals for management positions in the sports industry and faculty positions in higher education. It prepares graduates in a business and sports background, as well as establishing a strong research base.

The DBA candidates, in consultation and approval of their faculty members, may undertake independent research in the following areas:

  • Behaviors of sports consumers
  • Sociological and psychological principles associated with marketing strategies
  • Sports psychology
  • Sports management ethics
  • Fundraising and finance
  • Negotiation in the sports industry
  • Brand management of sports organizations
  • Organizational behavior in sport
  • Theoretical and practical dimensions of event management
  • Governmental and industrial policies affecting sports

The graduate DBA dissertation is shaped by the procedures, requirements and timelines of the student’s individual program. You may complete this DBA program entirely online. The degree may be titled Doctor of Business Administration – Sports Management. The program may ideally suit those with work and family commitments; professionals already in the sport management field, looking to enhance their knowledge and skills to teach in a college or university or conduct research.

Admissions Requirements

  • A completed and signed Application form
  • Official college and/or university transcripts from the institution(s) where the previous Master degree(s) was(were) conferred.
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Personal Goal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Field of interest / Research concept

For applicants who do not meet the previous Master degree requirements, demonstration of appropriate work experience, including five years of progressive professional, technical, or executive experience documented on the required resume will be considered in the admissions review process.
